Almost online

We've got a banner.

We've even got pens.

What we don't have — until later today — is a web site.  But we will.  Celebrate the internet!  Sept. 22, 2006.

OneWebDay is one day a year when we all - everyone around the physical globe - can celebrate the Web and what it means to us as individuals, organizations, and communities.

As with Earth Day - an inspiration and model for OneWebDay - it’s up to the celebrants to decide how to celebrate. We encourage all celebrations! Collaboration, connection, creativity, freedom.

By the end of the day, the Web should be just a little bit better than it was before, and we’ll be able to see our connection to it more clearly.

OneWebDay is September 22 every year, starting in 2006.

    How cool!
(But do you really need 3 1/2 foot pens?)

“it’s up to the celebrants to decide how to celebrate. We encourage all celebrations! Collaboration, connection, creativity, freedom.”
Letting celebrants create without restriction is a good way to go, consistent with the spirit of the Web. It might also be worthwhile to encourage a decentralized approach — build wherever you like, and just provide OneWeb with a link to your work. That, too, would be consistent with the spirit of the Web. And perhaps start using a “OneWeb” tag on sites like del.icio.us, too….

    The site is up.
    Bret: We have big ideas!
Fred: Totally decentralized. Decentralized, decentralized. Please go to the wiki and add a project or a set of ideas.
Riad: I'm open to any suggestions — but mostly I want people to get involved by creating a project and tying it to the idea of OneWebDay.

Got something to say?
