I'm Sorry
This is my 765th post, and you'd think I'd know what I was doing by now. But I don't. I usually do these posts at the end of the day, and as part of my routine I delete all the zillions of trackback spam that's attached itself to this account.
I keep deleting legitimate trackbacks. I've wiped out, recently, about six months' worth of legitimate trackbacks, trackbacks that I cherished. Because they were mixed into a nest of spam I've blindly deleted them as part of a big batch delete — I delete 50 at a time, and it takes quite a while.
I'm really sorry. I'll try not to do it again. As penance, here is a drawing that you can use to make fun of me.

Got something to say?

Doh! Now when people click on a link to your web site from my blog, they get a blocked message.
See http://www.planetmike.com/journal/2006/11/05/re-minds-like-complexity/ for an example.
Doesn't blogware have Akismet to tag spam? Wordpress uses it, and it is very rare I get a message that I have to approve.
Plus I can't enter my URL into the URL field of the comment box. When I enter http://www.planetmike.com, I get an error.
It is a big problem with Blogware. I had a huge amount of trouble with it, to the extent it entered the same bracket as washing-up and vaccum cleaning in my level of irritating jobs that had to be done.
The best solution is a painful one: move your blog to Wordpress software and install Spam Karma - which is incredible. I have been bothered by maybe five bits of spam and two trackbacks in six months, where before that was a very good day.
If you do decide to shift though, ask for advice from those that have been there - you won't regret it.

kieren — blogware flagged your comment as spam….perhaps it is time to move. But what a pain. And blogware has been kind to me since 2003. and I really like the interface. and I'd lose the url. argh. for the moment, i'll just be really really careful about deleting. susan
