Viola

So I brought the viola to Vancouver.  It's nice to have it here, and it gives me something to do that is fully analog.  Wave forms. 

Although I have to say that it came to me tonight that I have been assiduously playing the same Bach partita, off and on, for the last 25 years.  I used to play it on the violin, now I play it on the viola, and I'm still not completely happy with how it sounds.

Give me another 25 years and I'll get it right.

    One of my favorite guitar players and best friends, now gone, played only about 20 songs his whole life. I'll give you a copy of the one CD he recorded. It is deep, you will hear it.
    It will be excellent to get that one Partita right. And I'd love to hear the work in progress, even if I have to wait a decade or two :-) A political activist I've been corresponding with said recently, “The struggle *is* the victory.”

    It's often been observed that Bach is easy to play, but very, very, very difficult to play well.
