Washington evening

I went to a party tonight in DC during which (at least five times) people leaned towards me and said “this is all off the record, right?”  Does that happen in other cities?  Maybe it does.

It was a nice party, all the same.

Tomorrow is the first big OneWebDay brainstorming event.  We won't have to talk about whether it's on the record or not, because the point is to talk about the great creative potential (and actuality) of the Web.  How fun is that?  Details are here.  Please sign up and come if you're in the San Francisco area.

The other weird thing about parties in DC is that the two questions that always follow “what's your name?” are “where are you from?” (because no one is actually from DC) and “what do you do?” (because that's what really matters). It's also the only place I've ever been where people trade business cards — at frat parties.

I think this is one of the hazards of blogging; people always fear that you're going to post what they say.
